A decision in practice
The architecture had to bring cuff inflation, pressure sensing, SpO₂ and temperature together in a compact wearable. My work addressed pneumatic efficiency, signal quality, firmware integration and prototype evaluation; this remains prototype development.
The problem
Integrate oscillometric blood pressure sensing, SpO₂ and temperature in a compact wrist-worn form factor. Pneumatic efficiency, signal quality, power and telemetry all affect the system architecture.
My contribution
- Worked on hardware and system development, pressure sensing and inflation design.
- Coordinated team execution, firmware integration, prototype evaluation and architecture decisions.
- Addressed integration of multiple sensing functions within the constraints of a compact wearable.
Engineering constraints
The work considered inflation efficiency, BP measurement across ranges, low-power operation and multi-sensor integration.
Progress
A working prototype was developed, with further engineering evaluation and iteration needed before clinical validation.
