What we were building.
TempWatch is Bempu’s flagship wearable for continuous neonatal thermometry. I worked on three distinct variants: the original flagship product, a rechargeable version taken through to production, and a smart version that combined rechargeability with BLE connectivity. Each programme addressed a different part of the product’s evolution — manufacturing cost, rechargeable operation, and connected functionality.
Where I made a difference.
- Flagship product — I reduced per-unit manufacturing cost by 12% through DFM/DFA improvements and alternate vendor qualification, while retaining EMI/EMC compliance.
- Rechargeable version — I developed the electronics and firmware end to end, managed the team, and took the rechargeable version of the flagship product into production.
- Smart version — I developed a rechargeable, BLE-connected version of the flagship product, designing its electronics and firmware.
12% lower cost. Rechargeable version in production.
The 12% per-unit cost reduction applies to the flagship product. I brought the rechargeable version into production through end-to-end electronics, firmware and team management. The smart version was a separate rechargeable, BLE-connected development programme.
